    NOTIFICATION OF DESTRUCTION OF

    STUDENT SPECIAL EDUCATION RECORDS

    March 28, 2019

In accordance with the state and federal regulations implementing the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), this is to inform you of our intent to destroy personally identifiable information related to individual special education services provided by the Waynesville R-VI School District.

The reason for destruction is that the information is no longer needed to provide educational services.  The school is required to maintain such records for a minimum of three (3) years from the date the child no longer received special education and related services.  We will be shredding special education records for graduates & drops of the 2015-16 school year.

Please be advised that the records may be needed for social security benefits or other purposes.

Records to be destroyed are as follows:

    • Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
    • Evaluation Reports
    • Notifications of Meetings
    • Notices of Actions
    • Review of Existing Data Summaries
    • All other personally identifiable information within the Special Education file

If you wish to maintain this information for your personal records, please contact the Waynesville R-VI School District, Special Services Department at (573) 842-2007; otherwise, the information will be destroyed after May 31, 2019.

  • What is Standards Based Grading?

In the Waynesville R-VI school district, we utilize Standards Based Grading rather than the traditional letter grades.  If you are unfamiliar with this process, these resources may be helpful.
