East Announcements

  • Dear Parents,

We have developed a process to allow you to pick up your child’s books, backpacks, Chromebooks, etc. at East Elementary while limiting your potential exposure. We will eliminate large groups of people in one area and ask all to practice social distancing.

When you arrive at East, please go to the designated entrance, based on your house as follows:

Gray House Entrance:  Entrance G (COMC Clinic Entrance)

Black House Entrance: Front Main Entrance

Orange House Entrance: FEMA Shelter Rear Entrance

We ask that you go to your child’s classroom, pick up your items and promptly depart the building so that we will have ample time to clean between each session of parent pickup. Please understand that this is not a time for meetings or small gatherings, but a time to retrieve necessary items. If you are quarantined due to travel/cruises or illness, please call the school at 573-842-2150, and we will make other arrangements with you.

If at all possible, those with last names starting with the following letters please abide by these times on Tuesday, March 17, 2020:

    •  last names beginning with ABCD, your pickup time will be 8 a.m. to 9 a.m.

      -       last names beginning with EFGH, your pickup time will be 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

      -       last names beginning with IJKL, your pickup time will be 11 a.m. to noon

      -       last names beginning with MNOP, your pickup time will be 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

      -       last names beginning with QRST, your pickup time will be 2 to 3 p.m.

      -       last names beginning with UVWXYZ, your pickup time will be 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Student textbooks and workbooks will be utilized as part of our distance learning plan. If you do not have access to a technology device and/or internet to access daily assignments, your child’s teacher will call you daily to go over the assignments for the day. If you do not have internet access, additional supplementary packets may be provided.  If you have a child in grades 3 through 5 who does not have access to a technology device, please let your building principal know.

If you absolutely cannot make it during the day on Tuesday, we will offer an evening pick up time of 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday evening. You also may pick up the items on Wednesday, but please check in through the office.  At this time, our plan is to keep our building open with minimal staffing throughout the week.

Additional instructions will be forthcoming. If you have immediate questions or need more information, please call your child’s school or email your child’s principal.

    Dr. Brian Henry
