Flu Season
It is important that we work together to keep our children healthy, especially during flu season. Viruses spread easily among children in our schools, and families with kids in school have more infections than other families. By keeping our school children flu-free, we can help decrease the impact that the flu season has on the community as a whole. You can help prevent the spread of the flu or help your child get better if he/she gets sick by following a few simple steps:
1) If possible, you and your child should get a flu vaccine.
2) Remind your child to cover his/her nose and mouth with a tissue when sneezing or coughing and dispose of the tissue immediately.
3) Have your child wash his/her hands frequently with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds.
4) Disinfect touched surfaces and shared items at least once per day.
5) Teach your child not to touch his/her nose, mouth and eyes.
6) Ensure that bathrooms are stocked with soap, hand towels and tissues.
7) If your child is sick and has a fever, keep your child home to prevent the spread of illness to others. District policy states that students must be fever/vomiting-free for 24 hours before returning to school.
