Laptops, Notebooks, and Devices
WHS encourages students to use technology tools to enhance their learning experience. Use of electronic laptops, notebooks, and other devices is acceptable when the following guidelines are followed and the device is not a distraction to the classroom teacher and other students.
• Laptops, notebooks, and other electronic devices are to be used in the setting only for academic endeavors.
• Sound must be turned off to avoid class disruption.
• No earphones, entertainment software, or games will be allowed. This includes DVD video and music compact discs.
• Internet use is allowed only as part of the assigned classwork.
• School personnel must approve printing.
• The school is not responsible for loss, damage, or theft of electronic devices.
• The school is not responsible for providing technical support or software. (AppleWorks 6.0 and Microsoft Office are compatible with school software).
The district's Technology Use Policy (EHB and Regulation EHB- R) will apply to the use of any electronic device on school property. Students using the devices must have a signed parent and student technology agreement on file at the high school. If a student's technology privileges have been suspended or lost due to infraction of school policies and regulations on school equipment, that suspension or loss will apply to use of personal electronic devices at school as well. Any infraction of the district technology policy and regulation or these guidelines will result in confiscation of the device, to be returned only by conference with the parent/guardian. The student may be disciplined for infractions by the school administration, including possible loss of technology privileges.
