United States Military Academies Admissions Information
If you are interested in applying to a military academy please see your counselor for additional information. Second-semester juniors or seniors should begin their application process by going to the appropriate school’s web site and filling out a candidate’s questionnaire.
General Entrance Requirements
- US Citizen, 17 years old as of July 1st of the year you seek admission
- Not married, pregnant or have a legal obligation to support a
dependent - Army appearance standards regarding tattoos and brands must be met. Visible tattoos or brands on the neck, face or head are prohibited. Tattoos that are prejudicial to good order and discipline and/or detract from a Soldierly appearance are prohibited.
- Academics- evaluation of your scholastic transcript, GPA, ACT and/or SAT results
- Leadership potential- participation in extracurricular activities and the attainment of responsible positions in those activities; faculty recommendations; participation in community activities; work experience
- Fitness assessment- you must pass the Candidate Fitness Assessment
- Medical Qualification- you must pass the qualifying medical examination from the Department of Defense Medical Examination Review Board
- Nominations- see your guidance counselor for more information on obtaining Congressional or Military Service-Connected Nominations
Admissions Decisions Early offers of admission for outstanding candidates may be made in the fall. Nominated candidates will be offered admission as their records become complete. All admissions files must be complete, to include nominations, bu the last working day in February.
