My name is Mrs. Pritchard. Welcome to the ABC's OF KINDERGARTEN
A Alphabet
We explore the alphabet through literature and activities
B Behavior Management Plan - The 3 Bees

C Computers
Your child will have the opportunity to work on the computer.
We have some in the room and will be going to the lab.
Cubbies
Each child will be given a cubby to hold their supplies.
Cooking
Our kindergarten class will do cooking activities throughout the year
D We have a daily routine
E Eating
If your child is going to be eating the lunch provided by the
school, please send the money in an envelope. You will need to
put your child's name and the teacher's name on the envelope.
The office staff would like to receive the money on the first and
fifteenth of each month. A receipt will be sent home showing
the new balance on the account.
**** Empty
Please check your child's backpack each night and remove any
papers. Return the folder along with the behavior card daily!!
F Field Trips
We will try to attend two field trips.
Folders
Each child will have a folder. It will be sent home each night, papers and notes should be removed, and folders are returned to school every morning.
G Gym
Your child will have Gym with Coach Knipe on day 1 and 3.
H Homework
Please check your child's folder for any homework. I will send
papers home for extra practice.
I Involvement
I encourage each parent to be actively involved in their child's
education.
J Journals
In January we will do journal writing. Your child will copy the date each day
into their journal. We will draw/write about a given topic. Eventually, your child will be responsible for writing a sentence.
K Kindness
I expect everyone, who walks through the door, to show
kindness to others.
L Library
Your child will go to Library class on day 1 of the rotation. He/She will be able to check out a book. Your child will be able to get another book if he/she brings back the first book. The librarian is Mrs. Swenson.
Lunch
Please encourage your child to use the lunch time for eating.
Listening
This is a very important concept your child will learn.
M Music
Your child will go to Music with Mrs. Schaeffercutter on days 1 and 3 of the rotation.
Medicine
I am unable to give your child any medicine at school without
a doctor's written permission. See the school nurse if you need
a form.
N Nurse
There is a nurse in the building.
Notes
Any notes that you would like for me to see, place them in the child's folder. I check the folders each morning! I do not check backpacks for notes...only the folders!!
O Office
You must check in at the office and get a visitors pass before
coming to the room.
P Parties
Christmas and Valentine's Day are the two scheduled parties.
Principal
Mrs. Bales is the principal at East Elementary. Mrs. Smith is the assistant principal.
Q Quiet Time
What is that!!!! Each day the children will lay down for quiet time. The children are allowed to bring a small blanket and pillow. The items need to be small enough to fit in the bottom of their cubby.
R Recess
The children will have recess everyday. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. We will go out on hot and cold days!!
Restrooms
There is a restroom in our class. The children are allowed to go as needed.
S Snacks
A snack calendar will be sent home each month. You will be given a set day to provide snacks for the class. You can also send drinks (optional). However, the drinks will need to be individual....no cups and pouring. You may also send them in early and I can store them in the room.
Supplies
I will send home a note when your child is running low on supplies.
T Time
Time: Please take the time to read the library books and to look over the papers your child brings home daily.
Talk
You can increase your child's vocabulary through conversation.
U Unique
Kindergarten is a unique situation in that I have a short amount of time to lay a strong foundation for your child's education. I appreciate all the time you can spend reinforcing the skills learned at school.
V Volunteers
All volunteers must be registered on-line with the school district. If you need help let me know.
W Writing
Writing is as important as reading in school
Work
The children will be learning the difference between work time
and play time.
X eXcellent
The children, with your help and understanding, are going to have an excellent year.
Y Yesterday
It doesn't make any difference what your child's behavior was like yesterday because everyday is a new beginning.
Z Zoom
The year will zoom by so let us please work together to make
this year an enjoyable one for EVERYBODY.
