Howdy First Grader,
Welcome to East Elementary! My name is Mrs. O'Brien. This is my sixth year teaching first grade at East Elementary. I live in St. Robert with my husband, Dan and my dog, Mocha. Mocha is a Chocolate Lab. Some of my favorite activities include going to the beach, reading, walking, and visiting new places. My favorite color is green. My favorite drink is Diet Dr. Pepper. My first love is teaching children to read and discover new things!
The renovations that are happening at East are nearing completion! Our principal, Hilary Bales and our assistant principal, Marsha Smith, are committed to making East Elementary a building community that promotes positive learning and well-being for all students and faculty. These changes will assist in making our learning environment more efficient, promote pride in our surroundings and foster continued success for our students.
Our building theme for this year is the Wild West. At East we are ready to take the bull by the horns and wrangle our way to a successful future of learning for all students. Our focus is on Assessment for Learning. Assessment for Learning teaches students to self-assess and become an influential decision maker in their own education. This helps the student understand "Where he is going, Where he is now, and How he can close the gap."
We are "roundin' up" cowboys and cowgirls for a rodeo of learning that will prepare them for the 21st century challenges they will be facing in the future. We are very eager to have you and your family become a part of our "Trail ride" that is guiding our students into the 21st century.
Welcome to East Elementary where "East meets West!"
Your teacher,
Mrs. O'Brien
